Apollo
As the name implies, Apollo is about space time. Not excluded, however, is the other meaning of Apollo: the god of song, art, and the sun. The piece is tall; it can only be viewed fully from a distance; up close, it is seen in parts. Physically, the rocket ship, and, metaphorically, the god can only be see in the same way. At the base and supporting the whole piece is a pyramid form, an ancient, artifact. Above, the forms are "natural": moon, sun, river and bone. These are totemic images, representing things of—or beyond—our world.

There is a journey that takes place between people and the world, one that must be complete to be whole. Apollo, the mission, was our supreme technological attempt to close with something very old, our universe. Apollo, the god, represents both the highest human endeavor and the celestial presence most basic and important to our physical existence, the sun. Apollo is a journey and a place, a message of where we need to be and a map of how to get there.
